Willie Viljoen, a retired businessman and entrepreneur, unsure how to spend his recalled days in Polokwane in the Limpopo Province, decided to start his own red Kariba earthworm business after noticing a gap in the market. Being a keen angler, he saw an opportunity and packed the bull by the horn.
Farming with earthworms has a wide variety of benefits as the by-products of an earthworm can be used to produce earthworm tea, earthworm compost and fishing lure.
"My products are eco-friendly and diverse, and at the same time, I can help others in starting their own earthworm farms," Willie says.
Owner of several successful businesses in the Limpopo Province, Willie recognises the importance of entrepreneurship in general; therefore, he values assisting others in starting their own businesses - no matter how small the venture.
